One of the great up-and-coming hard rock singers of our time, Ronnie Romero (RAINBOW, LORDS OF BLACK, SUNSTORM, THE FERRYMEN) has announced the release of a unique covers album, "Raised On Radio" on April 15 via Frontiers Music Srl. The first single and video from the album, "No Smoke Without A Fire", a BAD COMPANY cover, is out today..

"Raised On Radio" features covers of classics that have meant something special to Romero over the years and helped forge this talented singer's musical style. Songs by legendary acts like SURVIVOR, BAD COMPANY, FOREIGNER, QUEEN, LED ZEPPELIN and more are given Romero's talented vocal treatment here. Joining Romero is a stellar cast of musicians, including Srdjan Brankovic (THE BIG DEAL, ALOGIA) on guitar, Javi Garcia on bass, Andy C (ex-LORDS OF BLACK) on drums, and keyboards by Alessandro Del Vecchio, who also handled production, mixing and mastering.

Having sung with Ritchie Blackmore 's RAINBOW to great acclaim and, more recently, taken on the frontman role with MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, Ronnie Romero could reasonably claim to have little to prove at this point. Fortunately, the Chilean has a voracious appetite for doing what he does best.

A sequel to last year's excellent "Raised On Radio", this second solo venture again comprises a selection of classic tunes, all sung by the man himself with the expected level of wild-eyed enthusiasm. Where the first volume focused on a varied selection of hard rock and AOR classics, "Raised On Heavy Radio" is Romero's full-beans metal showcase. Arguably in his most natural habitat while wailing for LORDS OF BLACK and SUNSTORM, he has a phenomenally powerful voice that lends itself to hard-edged but intensely melodic metal. As a result, while this could easily descend into a bloated exercise in carbon-copy karaoke, the sheer character in Romero's multi-octave bellow saves the day each and every time.

Devoted fans of melodic metal will have struggled to avoid RONNIE ROMERO over the last 15 years. The Chilean singer's output over that time has been varied, dynamic and relentless, with his voice a key component on albums by LORDS OF BLACK, SUNSTORM, THE FERRYMEN, CORELEONI, ELEGANT WEAPONS and numerous others. Oh, and he was RITCHIE BLACKMORE's choice for the revived RAINBOW. That's a pretty impressive resume by anyone's standards, but Romero was always destined to have a solo career, and "Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters" is its true starting point.

After hedging his bets somewhat, with two albums of rock and metal covers, the singer has finally taken the plunge and made a record that represents him in his most natural habitat. Pleasingly, these songs are rooted in traditional, melodic heavy metal, with occasional theatrical flourishes and a neat line in penetrating, AOR hooks. As one might expect, Romero was born for this stuff and sings the absolute living crap out of each and every one of them.

In a new interview with The Classic Rock Podcast, Chilean-born singer Ronnie Romero, who forged a formidable reputation over past few years with his work with Ritchie Blackmore's RAINBOW and Michael Schenker, among other projects, spoke about his desire to focus more on his solo career and establish his own name in the rock scene.

Asked which of his projects in the last decade and a half has given him the most satisfaction, he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, for me, obviously, because I grew up as a big fan, it was to meet Ritchie [Blackmore] and play with him in RAINBOW. It was probably something that I still — I still think about it, like, I would really love to have my father at that time because he died before [I started playing with Ritchie], and he was a huge fan of DEEP PURPLE also. So that's the thing that I [would] love for my father to watch me doing. Even we did not too many shows — at the end, there were, like — I don't know — 12, 15 shows".
